TALE OF LIGHTHOUSE

I was assigned as one of two story writers to a team of five at HEO. Our task was to create a short 2D Unity game in the allotted time of slightly over a month.

My contributions

I pitched an idea for a story and setting I had had for a while, and after some fine-tuning, our team used it to create a story of a man living on a doomed island, trying to persuade the others to escape with him. I wrote most of the dialogue and honed the text the others did, and gave various suggestions on development and graphics.
The upper image shows files of dialogue I wrote, and the lower one shows an example of it in-game.

HESTIA 1

At HEO, our team of three was assigned the prompt "mysterious planet" as the basis of a point-and-click adventure game, to be created on the website Balsamiq. We delivered a game about the titular spacecraft HESTIA 1 in about a week's time.

My contributions

Most of the Balsamiq slides and functionalities were my work, as well as the story and dialogue, though other members gave suggestions and feedback as well. I also created one background graphic and an improved version of the loading screen using paint.net.

CAPTAIN CATGUT

Our three-person group was given the task of creating a paper prototype of a simple side-scrolling platform game. In an afternoon, our team created a game about a raygun-wielding cat shooting cat-like aliens.

My contributions

I coined the name "Alien Big Cats" that was used during development, as well as the setting and character names derived from it. The parallax effect created by the Earth at the top was also my idea, and by drawing it and the "end screen" myself I also contributed a small amount of graphical work.
